The Brainerd Lakes Area Development Corp. is seeking the public's help in finding a project that could benefit from potential federal grant funds available that would assist targeted neighborhoods in Crow Wing County.
The Minnesota Housing Finance Agency received federal funds from the 2008 Housing and Economic Recovery Act to assist Minnesota communities in neighborhood stabilization.
Crow Wing County communities are eligible to apply for funds based on recent foreclosure rates.
Eligibility requirements are:
High foreclosure rates in a targeted neighborhood, and/or abandoned or vacant buildings.
A vision to implement and expend funds within an 18-month period of the grant award.
Identified partnerships with developers or other interested parties and income qualifications may be required depending on use of funds.
For those who know of a qualifying neighborhood or project, contact BLADC at 828-0096 by Friday. The funds could aid in acquisition, demolition, rehabilitation and/or down payment assistance.
Applications must be submitted by a local unit of government by Jan. 28.
