Faith in Action volunteers needed
During 2008, the 142 volunteer drivers for Faith in Action for Cass County covered 79,237 miles while helping others. This included providing transportation to the clinic, grocery store, food shelf, church, or medical appointments as far away as Fargo, N.D., St. Cloud or Duluth.
"The miles covered represent a 29 percent increase over 2007, giving volunteers plenty of time to supply the needed laughter and conversation many of our care receivers need," said Faith in Action Director Theresa Eclov. "It's a win-win for everyone."
Faith in Action volunteers also help out closer to home with friendly visits, phone reassurance, meal delivery or assistance with housework or chores. Faith in Action volunteers logged in more than 5,500 hours of time in 2008 as well, with a 15 percent increase in hours from the past year.
With the current economy and snowy winter, requests for assistance continue to come in to Faith in Action.
If you would like to volunteer or for more information, contact Faith in Action at (218) 675-5435.
