Ross Brooks, 23, of Nisswa died in crash
NISSWA - The victim of a single-vehicle fatal crash Monday on Highway 371 south of Nisswa has been identified by the State Patrol as Ross A. Brooks, 23, Nisswa.

At 6:54 p.m., Brooks was driving his car northbound on Highway 371 when he went off the right side of the road and struck a tree at Clark Lake Road, the State Patrol reported.

Brooks, who suffered head trauma, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.

Two passengers in Brooks' car, Lacey Warta, 17, Brainerd, and Wayne Compton, 18, Nisswa, also were injured.

Warta was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center with a possible broken leg and pelvis. She was reported in serious condition Tuesday.

Compton, who suffered bumps and scratches, was treated at St. Joseph's Medical Center and released.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department and the Nisswa Police Department assisted the State Patrol at the scene of the crash.
