Louie Hansen award is set up for Outstanding Glover. The award is named in honor of Louie Hansen, Brainerd, who is ill in St. Joseph's Hospital. For years when Brainerd was the regional center for Golden Gloves Boxing, Hansen served as the announcer.

Ed Tom O'Brien was elected chairman of the Crow Wing County Chapter of the American Red Cross. O'Brien succeeds Mrs. John A. Thabes, Sr., founder of the chapter.

Carl Zapffe, Jr., is the first Eagle Scout in Crow Wing Area Council of Boy Scouts to qualify for the Palm awarded by the Court of Honors and which represents five merit badges in addition to the 21 earned for his rank of Eagle Scout.
