LOCAL SHORTS
Dan Ebert leads Semi-Pro Stock class points race
Dan Ebert of Lake Shore leads the Semi-Pro Stock class in points following last weekend's WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Polaris Brainerd International Raceway Championship.

Levi LaVallee of Longville is third in the Pro Open point standings, seven behind Ryan Simons and Ross Martin.

Mike Schultz of Pillager is 11 points out of first in Pro Stock, following Martin and Tucker Hibbert.

Brainerd gymnast third

Katy Etterman of Brainerd of North Crest Gymnastics in Sauk Rapids had two top three finishes in the 2007 Winter Challenge Invitational at Concordia College in Moorhead last weekend.

Competing at level 8, Etterman placed third on vault with an 8.6 and third on floor exercise with an 8.825.

Gervais leads sophomore boys

Ben Gervais scored 30 points to lead the Brainerd Warriors past Sauk Rapids 90-50 in sophomore boys' basketball Tuesday.

Jon Wiese added 14 points, TJ Struss nine, Mike Gervenak and Devin Larson each had eight and Dan Bendzick seven.

Sophomore girls triumph

Brainerd defeated Bemidji 40-30 in sophomore girls' basketball Tuesday.

Leading scorers were Emily Thesing with nine points, Nikker Graumann had six and Emily Olson, Emily Nelson and Bethany Luckemeyer each had five as Brainerd improved to 8-4.

On Friday, the Warriors lost to Alexandria 51-48 in overtime. Leading scorers were Graumann with 17 points, Kelly Rosenthal with eight and Emily Thesing had seven.

Sherwood runner-up

Jordan Sherwood of Brainerd was second in the Pro Open class in the Buffalo River snocross races last weekend. After six events Sherwood leads the class in points.

Kath, Boran to speak to boosters club

Brainerd Warriors wrestling coaches Jim Kath and Mike Boran will be the speaker at the Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting, which begins at noon Thursday at the Moose Lodge.

Maggie Freiday, the Warrior Athlete of the Week, will be honored.

Fans are invited to join the sports boosters board before or after the following Warrior games for a social hour. The boosters will provide appetizers. Drawings for sports boosters clothing will be conducted at each event.

4:30 p.m., Feb. 10, 9th Street Bar, boys hockey game at 2 p.m.

5:30 p.m., Feb. 23, Choppers, girls basketball game at 7:30 p.m.
