Want to do the Oxtrot? Here are the basics
¥ Beyond connecting the arts and the business community and creating an area attraction, the Oxtrot project will raise funds to support arts in the lakes area. Statues may be sponsored for $2,800 and an artist fee of $1,000 if a submitted design is used.

¥ Area artists will be able to submit up to three designs for a theme to paint the statues and approved designs will be available for sponsors to view.

¥ Sponsors, which may be individuals or organizations or businesses, may hire their own artist or paint the statue themselves.

¥ Painted ox statues will then be on display either in front of sponsor businesses or in other area locations in the lakes area this year. Sponsors may be from outside the area but the statues need to be placed here.

¥ The statues will then be auctioned off in the fall of 2008. Sponsors have the option to keep a statue for an additional $1,500.

¥ The idea is to draw attention to the area from tourists and residents in the way the Snoopy statues did in the Twin Cities.

¥ The Oxtrot project is sponsored by the Crossing Arts Alliance in partnership with the Brainerd Lakes Chamber and Avalon Studios.

¥ Forms for artists and sponsors are on the Web site - www.theoxtrot.com.

¥ The project will kick off with the fishing opener in May and continue through Labor Day.
