Local briefs Morrison County DFL precinct caucuses will be Feb. 5 at school
Democrats from Morrison County will meet on Feb. 5 for the DFL's biennial precinct caucuses with registration at 6:30 p.m. and convening set for 7 p.m. The DFL caucuses will be conducted at Little Falls Community Middle School at 1000 First Ave. N.E.
Democrats will cast a presidential preference ballot that will determine how Minnesota's delegates to national convention are allocated. They will introduce resolutions for possible inclusion in the Minnesota DFL Party's platform and select delegates for the upcoming Morrison County Convention on March 1.
The presidential preference balloting will begin at 8 p.m. No absentee ballots will be allowed. Anyone who is eligible to vote by Nov. 4 may vote in the presidential preference ballot. Caucus-goers are encouraged to bring a cash donation or a food item for the Morrison County Food Shelf.
Brainerd parks board to meet
The Brainerd Parks and Recreation Board will meet at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the conference room at Brainerd City Hall.
Choir to sell food at Extravaganza
The Brainerd High School A Cappella Choir will sell brats, cookies, chips, coffee and hot chocolate from noon-3 p.m. Saturday at the Brainerd Jaycees $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganza at Hole-in-the-Day Bay.
Members of the choir will be divided into teams of four who will wear the menu on lime green T-shirts and deliver the food while singing original jingles.
Choir members and parents will sell food at S&W Bait on Friday and Saturday.
Funds raised will go toward the choir's March tour to Carnegie Hall in New York City.
