THEATER SHORTS Cast tapped for CLC's 'Madwoman'
Director Dennis Lamberson has announced the cast for Central Lakes College Theatre's production of "The Madwoman of Chaillot," to be staged at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15-17 and 22-24 in the Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus.
Tickets, priced at $5 for the public and free for CLC students, are available at the theater box office at 855-8199 and at the door.
Brianna Keran, Baxter, will play the title role.
The cast is rounded out by Joe Heikkila, David Wilson, Gabriel Solseth, Melissa Ruud, Chelsie Skorich, Shane Keran, Buck Ream, Stephanie White, Meagan Kedrowski and Anne Sparks, all of Brainerd; Alicia Wallin, Shane Lueck and Marc Oliphant, all of Baxter; Craig Hostetler, Lake Shore; Joe Wall, Hillman; Nick Brutscher, Little Falls; Jessie Huppler, Onamia; Jo Kennedy, Staples; Kim Thomas, Motley; Lad Fisk, Fort Ripley; and Lydia Hawley, Emily.
Jean Giraudouix's comic fable tells the story of a group of promoters who plot to destroy Paris and unearth oil that they believe is beneath the city.
It is up to the Madwoman and her cohorts of colorful vagabonds to heal the ills of the world and destroy the warmongers.
The play was written in 1942 while Nazi troops occupied France. In the 1950s, it proved relevant as the Cold War emerged. During the late 1960s and early '70s, it enjoyed resurgence in the United States as a reaction to the Vietnam War.
'Alone Together' cast announced
PEQUOT LAKES - Director Amy Borash has announced the cast for Pequot Lakes Community Theatre's comedy, "Alone Together."
The show, about empty-nesters whose dream of a life on their own is interrupted by the return home of their adult children, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23-24 and March 2-3 and 2 p.m. Feb. 25 and March 4 in the Pequot Lakes School auditorium.
Tickets are priced at $10 for adults, $9 for seniors 60 and older and $8 for youths. They are available from Pequot Lakes Community Education at (218) 568-9200.
The cast includes Charlie Cook, Pequot Lakes; Ben Gordon, Pine River; Sharon Hartley, Baxter; Hannah Johnson, Jenkins; Spencer Lian, Ideal Corners; and Michael Sander, Pine River.
The set will be designed by Tim Leagjeld, Pine River, and Stanley Mikles, Crosslake, will be the stage manager.
