20 years ago (1988)

Brainerd VFW Commander Roy Schellin sampled a doughnut at the Senior Citizens Center. The doughnuts were made with an automatic doughnut-maker purchased with funds from the VFW Club and the accessories were purchased with a contribution from the VFW auxiliary.

30 years ago (1978)

You'll always remember her special blend of warmth and wit, kindness and concern, instruction discipline. Sarah Yatckoske, third grade teacher extraordinaire and this year's Brainerd Teacher of the Year.

40 years ago (1968)

The Curriculum Committee of the Brainerd School Board and School Administrators discussed some revolutionary new teaching methods at a meeting.

60 years ago (1948)

Brainerd's snow queen, Patricia Maghan, will "buzz" the Twin Cities on her arrival as a guest at the St. Paul Winter Carnival. She will be following tradition set last year by 1947's queen Gwen Koop.

80 years ago (1928)

Mrs. Sever Tollefson, 717 2nd Ave. N.E., and Mrs. J.E. Yalch, 715 Second Avenue N.E. saw a robin yesterday at noon. This is unusual for this time of the year.

100 years ago (1908)

Misses Maud and May O'Brien were hostesses at a very pleasant sleigh riding party last night.

A merry party of about 24 drove to the home of T.J. Sewell and had supper and spent a jolly evening.
