Brenda Austin of St. Rosa was chosen as the queen of the Brainerd Area Vocational-Technical Institute's Snow Week at Thursday night's coronation ball. Selected as King was Brian Olson of Brainerd.

Ven Johnson, 9-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Johnson of Crosby, was awarded the prize for the largest fish, a 1-lb, 9-oz. northern at the annual Serpent Lake Fishing Marathon in Crosby.

Brainerd school officials said today that houses on the high school site will be burned beginning this week.

Accompanying Gwen Koop, reigning Brainerd Snow Queen in her first appearance in the opening parade of the St. Paul Winter carnival Saturday, Feb. 1, will be the Brainerd Ladies' Drum and Bugle Corps.

Wadena High School defeated Brainerd High at Wadena 17 to 8 last night. Brainerd led 6-1 at the end of the first half but gave way completely in the last two quarters while Wadena piled up score after score.

The First Baptist Church, of this city, will dedicate their new house of worship about the first of March. The memorial window is now in place and so far as can be seen from the outside it is one of the most handsome in the city.
