While the number of Brainerd School District students involved in debate is not large, the program is active. It starts in the junior high, where Jamie Meyer is coaching 14 students. High school coach Doug Johnson has 16 students.

John Caron, a local artist, will display his work, beginning Tuesday, at Brainerd Community College. Caron, a 1972 graduate of Brainerd High School, received a B.A. degree in fine art from Indiana University.
40 years ago (1967)
Another 4 inches of snow last night slowed traffic and put road plows to work while boosting Brainerd's total snowfall for the year to almost three feet.

Miss Donna Gross today announced that she has purchased the beauty shop in the Tomlinson Barber Shop, 210 South Seventh Street, and will take possession of her new holdings Feb. 3. The shop will be known as "Donna's Beauty Shop."

Hon. Joseph C. Wood of St. Paul will expend at least $15,000 at his summer home at Crooked Lake. He will erect a handsome bungalow which will accommodate a large number of guests and will provide launches, bowling alleys, and other means of enjoyment for them.
