OUR OPINION: ACCESSIBILITY Start sending school chief questions now
If you're sitting at a computer keyboard Tuesday afternoon your access to Jerry Walseth, Brainerd School District superintendent, is only few keystrokes away.
Walseth has graciously agreed to be the first public official to step up to the plate and participate in a Brainerd Dispatch online feature that will debut Tuesday called Q &A with..." The live, interactive session will allow participants to ask questions of Walseth regarding school issues by sending e-mails to City Editor Kathi Nagorski at kathi.nagorski@brainerddispatch.com from now until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Walseth will answer questions on BrainerdDispatch.com forums from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday. The questions, supplied by participants who can remain anonymous, will be asked by a Dispatch moderator. Interested persons can access the Forum section on the Dispatch Web site (BrainerdDispatch.com) and witness the question and answer session without registering as a Dispatch Web site user.
Credit Walseth with making himself accessible to busy school district residents. Many moms and dads might not have the time to attend school board meetings or might be reluctant to phone or ask their questions personally. School district officials realize that they can do a better job for the students if they're aware of problems or perceived problems within the district.
The forum can be accessed directly by typing in http://brainerddispatch.com/forums.
So start sending in your questions for Walseth by e-mail and read his answers on the Dispatch Web site and also read excerpts of the exchanges in Wednesday's Brainerd Dispatch.
