SPORTS SHORTS BIR event to be rebroadcast on Speed channel
Round Two of the Polaris championships at Brainerd International Raceway will be televised on the Speed channel at 2 p.m. Saturday and rebroadcast at 3 a.m. Feb. 7.
Round Three of the championships will be televised at noon on Feb. 7 and rebroadcast at 2 p.m. Feb. 15.
Herwig on all-academic team
TROY, N.Y. - Kyle Herwig, a senior from Merrifield majoring in aeronautical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has been named to the Liberty League Winter All-Academic Team.
Herwig is a member of the men's indoor track and field team. Honored student-athletes must have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.20.
Warrior game time changed
The Brainerd Warriors will host the Moorhead Spuds in boys' basketball at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The game originally was scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start. The sophomore game will begin at 6 p.m.
C-I schedule changed
The Crosby-Ironton Rangers girls' basketball team will host the Staples-Motley Cardinals at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Ranger Gym at the high school.
Following that game the C-I boys' team will play the Pine River-Backus Tigers in the Ranger Gym.
Sophomore boys beat Otters
Brainerd (15-2) defeated Fergus Falls 66-46 in sophomore boys' basketball Tuesday.
Mike Gervenak had 14 points, TJ Struss 13, Ben Gervais 11, Sam Feyder 10 and Jon Wiese 8 for BHS.
