Fire damage displaces family
Brainerd firefighters discussed the best way to attack a fire reported at 4:54 p.m. Thursday at a rental house in the 100 block of Fourth Avenue Northeast. The fire may have started in a back bedroom, the fire department reported. Because power was cut to the house and because of the extensive amount of smoke damage, the family renting the house wasn't allowed to return Thursday. Firefighters cleared the scene at 6:40 p.m. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is being investigated. Brainerd Dispatch/Steve Kohls
