Members of the Baxter Lions Club voted Monday to take over sponsorship of this year's Fourth of July Festival for the Brainerd-Baxter area.
30 years ago (1977)
The third annual Brainerd "Lumberjack Jaunt" ski touring race will be held Saturday at the Brainerd Country Club. The race trail will cover 10 kilometers (six miles) at the golf course.
40 years ago (1967)
The Class of 1917 of the Washington High School is planning its 50th reunion on Sept. 10. Over 22 members have been contacted and indicated they will be present.
60 years ago (1947)
Washington High POW Wow: Scholarship, leadership, character and service were honored this morning in the annual Recognition Day exercise. Highest honors in the class went to Edith Tollefson, valedictorian, and Richard Miller, salutatorian.
80 years ago (1927)
The Brainerd High School basketball team is continuing in its championship march with its conference games and last night rolled up its second victory over Pine River by 30-11. Captain Fitzharris rolled in basket after basket.
100 years ago (1907)
A.Z. Renslow on Saturday purchased the Ray Lawrence building on Front Street paying $1,500 for the building and store fixtures. He also purchased the furniture of the flat upstairs and will probably rent that furnished.
