Sen. Sams spends night in hospital
ST. PAUL -- Sen. Dallas Sams, DFL-Staples, did not return to work Tuesday morning after spending Monday night in a hospital.
A spokesman for Senate Democrats said Sams underwent tests Tuesday morning and was feeling better after being taken to the hospital by ambulance Monday.
Sams, 52, had a busy day Monday. He was chief sponsor of a bill, passed 54-12 by the Senate, that would double the level of ethanol sold in Minnesota gasoline to 20 percent by 2012.
Sams had been scheduled to appear at a news conference Tuesday with U.S. Rep. Colin Peterson, D-Minn., to discuss the legislation. Sams and Peterson also had been scheduled to meet with Gov. Tim Pawlenty Tuesday to talk about the bill.
Sams was elected to the Senate in 1990.
