LOCAL BRIEFS Bill offers help for new dairy producers
ST. PAUL -- Legislation authored by Sen. Paul Koering, R-Fort Ripley, that would establish a beginning milk producer program in Minnesota was passed by the Senate Agriculture, Veterans and Gaming Committee this week.
Designed to encourage young people to enter into agriculture, the program offers new dairy farmers payments from the state based on their production. The bill's next stop is the Senate floor for a vote by the full body.
