City provides early snow removal notice
The city of Brainerd is anticipating the declaration of a snow emergency based on the forecast of snow accumulation in excess of 12 inches from Wednesday through Friday.
In the event that more than 4 inches of snow is received by 5 a.m. Thursday, a snow emergency will become effective at 6 a.m.
Snow plowing would commence at 6 a.m. on Thursday on the following streets: all snow emergency routes, all north-south streets, all streets west of the Mississippi River and all streets south of Willow Street.
On Friday, snow plowing would start at 6 a.m. on the following streets: all snow emergency routes, all downtown streets and all east-west streets.
Snow removal in the central business district will commence at 3 a.m. on either Friday or Saturday morning, depending on when the snow ends.
For snow removal in the central business district, vehicles parked on the following streets will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense: Front Street from South 6th to South 8th streets, Laurel Street from South 6th to South 8th streets and South 7th Street from Maple to Front streets
Parking is banned on streets the day they are scheduled to be plowed, until the street has been plowed from curb to curb.
All vehicles plowed around will be issued a $25 parking ticket. Vehicles that are not moved within 48 hours of being plowed around will be towed at the owner's expense.
