CenterPoint Energy offers community grants
Beginning this month, CenterPoint Energy will offer Community Partnership Grants to cities the company serves in Minnesota.
The company will award individual grants of up to $3,000 to help cities buy emergency response equipment.
In its first two years, the program funded 109 projects in communities throughout the company's Minnesota service area. For 2005, CenterPoint Energy increased the total grant amount available to cities from $2,500 to $3,000. From March through May, priority status will be given to communities that have not received a grant previously.
After that period, all communities will be eligible for a grant. The company also changed the program's focus to only fund requests for emergency response equipment. Examples of eligible requests include: multi-gas atmosphere monitors, thermal imaging cameras, extraction tools, self-contained breathing apparatus, nozzles and specialized emergency response and rescue equipment.
Cities interested in applying for grants should contact Suzanne Pierazek at (612) 321-4828 or go to www.CenterPointEnergy.com/mncommunity.
