20 years ago (1985)
Unofficially, it's official. Brainerd either got 19 inches of snow or 26 inches of snow. Brainerd began to dig out under all that snow today, slowly returning to business as usual after Sunday and Monday's winter blizzard.
30 years ago (1975)
Glen Lilley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lilly, Route 7, Brainerd, received scouting's highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout, at a Court of Honor in Nisswa recently.
40 years ago (1965)
Brainerd's flags will be displayed on parking meter poles in the future, it was decided at last night's city council meeting.
60 years ago (1945)
Don Cain, former Brainerd lightweight champ, is letting no grass grow under his feet even though stationed in a medical unit attached to the Marine Corps on Guadalcanal. Cain, son of Mrs. Ida Cain, Route 3, recently defeated the champion of the Admiralty Islands.
80 years ago (1925)
Basketball has taken as great a hold here in Brainerd as baseball ever did and every game has been well attended. At a recent Little Falls game at Little Falls, Brainerd fans outnumbered the Little Falls rooters.
100 years ago (1905)
It was learned with regret by many friends of Alderman Murphy that he will have to submit to a surgeon's knife if he does not improve in the hospital.
