Economist to present outlook March 13 at CLC
International economist Andrew T. Hook will present "An Economic Outlook" at a Central Lakes College public forum noon March 13 in Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus.

The free one-hour forum, with Hook's insight from an international perspective on the economies of the world, is sponsored by the Gordon Rosenmeier Center for State and Local Government.

Hook has 30 years of experience in banking, finance and economic development in Africa, Asia, South and Central Americas, North America, the Caribbean and Europe. He has worked for the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, providing support for financial sector infrastructure projects, technical assistance in payment systems and preparing numerous reports on international banking and financial and economic policy.

Andrew Hook

Hook has a master's degree in economics from New York University, a master of business administration degree in finance and accounting from Columbia University and doctoral degrees from Cornell University (French literature) and New York University (economics).

He recently returned from Afghanistan, where he worked closely with the Governor of the Central Bank during the country's implementation of a currency conversion.

The Rosenmeier Center was formed in 1989 in recognition of the 30 years of legislative commitment by the late State Sen. Gordon Rosenmeier of Little Falls. He authored legislation which created the State Planning Agency, the Department of Corrections, the Pollution Control Agency, the Brainerd Regional Human Services Center, Brainerd Community College, the Lindbergh Home State Historical Site, the Fair Employment Practices Commission, the Watershed districts, the open meeting law, the Public Service Commission and the Department of Natural Resources.

Tax-free donations to fund programming, research and scholarship for the Rosenmeier Center can be made through the Central Lakes College Foundation.
