LOCAL BRIEFS Concert postponed
WALKER - The Best of Bluegrass concert scheduled for Friday at Northern Lights Casino has been postponed until 8 p.m. Oct. 12 due to a scheduling conflict.
Jerry Douglas and Alecia Nugent will perform at the show. All tickets purchased for Friday's show will be honored on the new date.
Workshop scheduled
BAXTER - Renewing the Countryside, Central Region Sustainable Development Partnership and the Initiative Foundation are hosting a Greening Your Business workshop in central Minnesota that will feature George Wilkes from the Angry Trout Cafe in Grand Marais.
The workshop showcases real life examples of what is working in sustainable tourism in Minnesota. There will be resources and tips for making your business more sustainable and ideas of how to help your region retain its local flavor.
The workshop is from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at Prairie Bay in Baxter.
The agenda includes an 11:30 a.m. lunch, a noon presentation from Wilkes and a 1 p.m. roundtable discussion and question-and-answer, featuring Lynn Scharenbroich from Black Pine Beach Resort.
Cost is $15 in advance and $20 at the door, which includes lunch, program materials and a directory of green resources. Scholarships are available. RSVP is requested by Friday.
