'You need to learn how to just go with the flow'
WHEN MOTHER AND FATHER ARE DOCTORS
We trust them with our lives, yet really don't know much about the people behind the white doctor's coats. Here are portions of e-mail interviews to help patients get to know the personal side of their doctors.

Mike and Rachel Cady, obstetrician/gynecologists at Central Lakes Medical Clinic in Crosby

Children: Ethan, 6, Ryan, 4 and Adam, 3.

Years married: Seven.

How they met: They interviewed for medical school in Duluth on the same day.

The worst part of being married to another doctor: "The worst part is it can be quite stressful at times trying to maintain a precarious balance between family life and work," Mike said.

The stress factor: "I think we are pretty mellow people," Mike said. "I think it is partly just in our nature, but you also need to learn how to just go with the flow and try not to let the small, insignificant things in life bother or annoy you. Life is too short to waste time worrying about those things."

Scheduling: Rachel works three days a week while Mike works four days week. There are two days during the week they have someone watch their children. "We always try to put our kids first when we are home and give them as much attention as we can," Mike said. "We are probably not as good about taking time for ourselves or as a couple, but I think we're getting better."

The best part of being married to Rachel: "Rachel is my best friend. I greatly admire her. She is a very strong, intelligent person with integrity. As a married couple, we try to make each other become better people," Mike said.

Advice for other busy couples: Don't sweat the little things and keep your priorities in order. "Our family life and our faith in God play a huge part in who we are," Mike said.

Ryan and Stephanie Kray, family physicians at Family Medical Center in Little Falls

Children: Three sons, ages 5, 3 and 1.

Years married: Seven.

Hometowns: Stephanie is from Hastings while Ryan was raised in Willmar.

Working together: "We tend to understand each others work frustrations and stresses that the job brings a little better," the Kray's said. "By working in the same building we can check in periodically with each other regarding household/scheduling/kid issues without picking up the phone."

Time management: "Some days there does not seem to be enough time to complete all the tasks at hand. Thankfully we have an excellent day care provider, baby-sitter and grandparents who help out when needed," they said. "This is invaluable when trying to work and raise a family. Our call schedule is manageable and with good attention to details we usually keep the chaos to a minimum."

Staying healthy: "We stay active by playing a variety of sports with the kids, walking and biking. We do our best to not overdo the convenience foods at home and keep fast food to a minimum," they said.

Managing stress: "Despite the seriousness and stress that can be part of our workdays, we both realize the importance of having fun at home and on the job," said the Kray's. "A sense of humor is a must. Our best remedy for stress is to stay busy with activities we enjoy."

Hobbies: Ryan enjoys the outdoors and hunting, fishing and sporting events. Stephanie likes fishing, hiking, cooking and scrapbooking.
