At long last, Brainerd people are looking into the possibility of attracting a horse racing track to the area. The Brainerd Chamber of Commerce has formed a task force to look into the track.
30 years ago (1975)
Over half of the senior class have either graduated early or are attending school on a part-time basis, of the 474 members of the Brainerd High School senior class, 65 have already graduated and 194 are attending school only part of the school day.
40 years ago (1965)
Hazel Adams, rolling games of 218, 204, and 193 joined a select circle (numbering six) of women who have rolled more than one 600 series in Brainerd.
60 years ago (1945)
Forty-four Crow Wing county selective service registrants were scheduled to leave this afternoon for Ft. Snelling where they will undergo physical and mental examinations in preparation of entering a branch of the armed forces.
80 years ago (1925)
The value of a gasoline tax of two cents a gallon is seen when one realizes that the gas consumption in Crow Wing County will run to 3,000,000 gallons in the year 1925. At two cents a gallon tax this would yield a revenue of $60,000 for aid in road construction.
100 years ago (1905)
Dr. and Mrs. Nicholson entertained a few friends last evening in a very delightful manner.
