LOCAL BRIEFS Mailbox vandals sought in Cass County
WALKER - A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of vandals who have been attacking rural-style mailboxes throughout Cass County, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service reported Thursday.
The inspector asks Cass County residents to be alert to people stopping at mailboxes. People are asked to write down license plate numbers, description of vehicles and individuals and if it was believed the individuals are tampering with the mailbox or its contents.
Anyone with information regarding the mailbox vandals is asked to call the Cass County Sheriff's Department at (218) 547-1424 or the U.S. Postal Inspection Service's office at (651) 293-3200.
Brainerd Parks and Recreation Board to meet Monday at Brainerd City Hall
The Brainerd Parks and Recreation Board will meet at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the small conference room at Brainerd City Hall.
Crow Wing County GOP to meet Saturday; 12A endorsement expected
BAXTER - Crow Wing County Republicans will meet Saturday at Forestview Middle School in Baxter followed by an endorsing convention for House District 12A.
Rep. Paul Gazelka, R-Brainerd, is the only announced candidate for the post.
The Republicans will meet at 8 a.m. with the county convention running from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The House District 12A endorsing convention will be conducted from 1-2 p.m.
The Republicans also will elect delegates to the Eighth District convention May 6 in Breezy Point.
Forestview Middle School is at the intersection of Highland Scenic Road (County Road 48) and Knollwood Drive in Baxter.
