CLC to host Military Families Night
To show support for military families in our region, Central Lakes College will host Welcome Military Families Night at 6 p.m. April 24 on the Brainerd campus.
The event is co-sponsored by the Minnesota Family Assistance Center and the Brainerd Family Readiness Group.
Don Pfeffer, Veterans Resource Center coordinator, said the college wants to "reach out to ALL military families to let them know how much we support them. We will start at 6 p.m. with free hot dogs, chips and beverages with a variety of information tables and mini-workshops from 7-9 p.m."
Pfeffer said the focus of the evening is "to show how college employees care and can help families."
One of the presentations offered will be "Beyond the Yellow Ribbon: Helping Combat Vets and Families" presented by the Minnesota National Guard Reintegration Team. Other sessions include "Better Budgeting" and "Is Your Auto Ready for Deployment?" More sessions may be added.
"We want family members from all branches of service to attend, and we hope to make this an annual event," Pfeffer said.
The CLC child development program will provide child-care services.
For information, contact Pfeffer at 855-8148 or e-mail to veterans@clcmn.edu.
