LOCAL BRIEFS Appreciation party for Daryl Larson
MOTLEY - There will be an appreciation party for Daryl Larson, Motley resident and auctioneer, on Friday at the Ten High on Hwy. 10 in Motley.
There will be a brat sale from 6-8 p.m. put on by the United Methodist Church Men's Club. Ladies are asked to bring bars or cookies or others can bring chips and dip.
Music by the Lonesome Fugitives will be from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Proceeds will help with medical expenses due to Larson's brain aneurysm he had.
Used book sale at Brainerd Public Library
Friends of the Brainerd Public Library will hold their spring used book sale from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. All proceeds benefit Brainerd Public Library.

Youth As Resources awards grant
The Youth As Resources (YAR) Board recently awarded a grant to the Brainerd High School FFA for Kids' Kountry at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds. Kids' Kountry will be an ongoing exhibit featuring learning stations to teach children and adults where the food we eat comes from.

Forest managers meet to discuss timber productivity
DULUTH - Managers, researchers and the policy makers of Minnesota's forest resource will meet Tuesday and Wednesday in Duluth to discuss the productivity of Minnesota's forested lands.
The conference, billed as a "working meeting," will be attended by leading forestry professionals from federal, state, county and tribal agencies; industry; and representatives of education, research, tribal and private land ownership. The challenge to meeting participants is to gain consensus, set goals, and develop plans that will define the strategies critical to improving timber productivity in the state of Minnesota.
Central Minnesota Council on Aging has permanent office
STAPLES - The Central Minnesota Council on Aging in collaboration with the Lakewood Health System in Staples has announced a local advocate now has a permanent office at the Lakewood Health System located at 403 NE Prairie Ave., Suite 101, Staples.
Sharon Notch, advocate for the Todd, Wadena and Morrison County area of the Senior LinkAge Line will be there to provide one-on-one assistance to older adults, Medicare Beneficiaries, family members, caregiver and fellow professionals on all aspects of available services.
Because Notch will continue to be out in all of the counties that she serves assisting clients, hours at this site will vary for some time until a more standard schedule can be arranged.
