Man arrested, gun found after case of road rage along Baxter service road
Senior Reporter A handgun was brandished at the scene of a road rage incident in Baxter Friday night, the Baxter Police reported.
The incident happened about 6 p.m.
Baxter Police reported the alleged victims, a couple, were turning off Highway 371 onto Clearwater Road and then made a turn onto the service road, Edgewood Drive. The alleged suspect was driving behind them. Victims reported the suspect apparently was upset they didn't cross through the intersection at a faster pace. The suspect's vehicle then passed the victims on Edgewood Drive and turned into the Best Buy parking lot.
The victims told Baxter police they pulled into Best Buy to see what the problem was and pulled up to the suspect's car so that drivers' doors were opposite each other.
At that time, the suspect reportedly brandished a handgun and words were exchanged. No shots were fired. The suspect then drove off. Area officers were alerted to the suspect's vehicle. The victims told police they did not know the suspect.
A short time later, the suspect, described as a white male in his 50s, was stopped in Pequot Lakes and arrested by Pequot Lakes Police. A small caliber handgun was recovered with the suspect.
This road-rage incident comes a little more than a month after two men were arrested following the report that a gun was pointed at a person following a road-rage incident near College Square in Baxter.
