Kimberly Rabehl, daughter of Jim and Marilyn Rabehl, Brainerd, will attend a National 4-H Conference April 16-22 in Washington, D.C. Rabehl was one of six achievement winners in the Minnesota 4-H awards program.

Franklin Junior High took the first place and Washington Junior High the second place in the 1978 Aitkin Junior High Speech Meet held here yesterday. Over 200 students and coaches from nine area schools participated in the three-round contest.

Two baseball teams will be organized this year in Brainerd. One will play in the CTW League and the other in the Lake Region Baseball League. Those on the promotion committee are Bob Bender, Jim Richmond, Pete Peterson, Walter Deming and Ray Madison.
80 years ago (1928)
Two girls riding in a sidecar of a motorcycle and the driver were injured last night in an accident on East Oak Street when the motorcycle crashed into the rear of a wagon. Alleged failure to carry a light on the rear of the wagon was blamed for the accident.
100 years ago (1908)
W.H. Rosenkranz of Nokay Lake, has rented the farmers' home, hotel and barn of Con O'Brien and will take possession the first of April.
