20 years ago (1985)
The name has been changed. But the state hospital in Brainerd still performs the same services. Brainerd Regional Human Services Center is what the sign says, but technically it's still the Brainerd State Hospital.

The operator of the Gull Drive-In theater has not lost his humor during all the snow that has fallen on this area. A sign which appeared at the theater entrance read, "Free Snow - New Shipment on Hand."
60 years ago (1945)
Plans for the erection of a new $50,000 Greyhound bus terminal building in Brainerd were announced. The building will be at the site of the present Gardner building across from the city hall.
80 years ago (1925)
W. J. Garvey is preparing to build a new front on his restaurant next to the Dispatch building. The new front will be of white enameled brick. Windows in the second story will also be changed.
100 years ago (1905)
