Three finalists - Todd Holman, Mark Liedl, David Maroney - were interviewed Tuesday for the newly created Crow Wing County Land Services director position.
Holman, Baxter, is program director at The Nature Conservancy and is a Baxter City Council member. Holman previously worked for the county as planning and zoning administrator from 1996 to 1999 and as community development director for the city of Baxter from 1999 to 2004.
Liedl, Breezy Point, is an owner and operator of Culver's restaurant in Baxter. Liedl recently served as a consultant with Crow Wing County, working to create a summary document bringing all land use policy, plans and practices together. Liedl also was an assistant county attorney from 2000 to 2002.
Maroney, Northfield, is a seasonal resident in the lakes area and has done work in Baxter, Nisswa and Pequot Lakes. Maroney is a consultant with Community Partners Inc., a business he founded with a partner in 1994. From 1980 to 1988, he worked for the city of Northfield as community development director. Since then he's worked for engineering and land development firms focusing on the public sector, such as Ahlers & Associates and Yaggy Colby Associates.
Tami Laska, Crow Wing County human resources director, said the board had three strong candidates for the job. Laska expects that the commissioners will discuss the candidates at Tuesday's board meeting.
