Lending a helping hand
Baxter fourth-graders, including Cody Robinson (front, center), Amy Shepherd (left), Keaton Riley, Samantha Hamlin, Adam Fischer, Abby Vagle and Jordan Skarolid, hauled boxes of donated food Tuesday to a van for the Lakes Area Food Shelf in Pequot Lakes. Baxter students donated 1,520 food items to the food shelf last month. Bob and Jeanne Johnson, who together teach a fourth-grade class, made a challenge to their students that they would double the donation brought in by their class. Their class donated 95 food items - the largest single-class donation - and the husband-and-wife team ended up writing a check to make a monetary donation to the food shelf, Bob Johnson said.
