Environmental lawyer to address League of Women Voters
Charles Dayton, an environmental lawyer who practiced in Minneapolis for more than 40 years, will address the League of Women Voters of the Brainerd Lakes Area at noon April 12 at the Brainerd Public Library.

Dayton was named Environmentalist of the Decade by the Sierra Club for his work on increasing wilderness protection for the Boundary Waters. Since his retirement he has worked as a volunteer at the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy on energy and global warming issues.

Ward legislation would help small campgrounds

ST. PAUL - A bill introduced by Rep. John Ward that will provide significant savings for small campgrounds passed on the House floor last week. The margin was 131-1.

The legislation allows for a hose bib vacuum breaker backflow preventer to be used at water supply connections in recreational vehicle camping areas. The change could save as much as $4,000 a year for small campgrounds and up to $20,000 a year for larger campgrounds.

AAA senior driving class planned Thursday

AAA is sponsoring a senior driving class from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday.
