Tempo briefs
35 mm cameras needed for children's workshop


A few 35 mm point and shoot cameras are needed for the Picturing IV children's workshop at 9 a.m. Saturday at Central Lakes College.

If interested in lending a camera for the workshop, contact ckellett@brainerd.net.

BHS Fine Arts Banquet set Monday in cafeteria

The Brainerd High School Fine Arts Banquet will be at 6 p.m. Monday in the high school cafeteria.

Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. and the program will follow.

Tickets are on sale at the main office. The deadline for buying tickets is 11 a.m. Friday. Prices are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Fine Arts students will receive a complimentary ticket.

Brainerd library sponsors contest for young readers

A "Get on Board and Read at Your Library" contest is offered at the Brainerd Public Library. Readers ages 12-17 can enter an essay, poem, painting or video explaining why their favorite book is meaningful to them. Entrants can work individually or as a group.

Entries must be received by Tuesday. Prizes may include milk coupons, T-shirts, copies of skateboard champion Tony Hawk's book and the grand prize trip to meet Hawk. For more information, contact Stacy Jensen at 829-5574.
