CLC to present its version of 'The Emperor's New Clothes' for children


Central Lakes College Children's Theatre students will present "The Emperor's New Clothes (or What Not to Wear)" for the public at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. April 24 at Central Lakes College's Dryden Theatre.

Admission is $2. Seats may be reserved by calling 855-8199. The students also will perform 16 times for nearly 2,000 pre-school through middle school children April 14-May 3.

The production is part of a class taught by Dennis Lamberson, who will direct the 50-minute show. The play is Lamberson's retelling of the famous story with new twists and turns. Costumes are designed by David Wilson and lighting is by Adam Nygren.

The characters and students who portray them are:

Editors of F.F.F. (Fabulous, Fantastic Fashion), the magazine for those with wit and style -- Jacque Fabulous (Aaron Best, Aitkin) and Jill Fantastic (Greta Sorvik, Onamia).

The Hatters from the little village of Sewinhat, who sew and make hats -- Harry (Matthew Woolery, Little Falls) and Harrietta (Jessica Huppler, Onamia).

The rulers of the Kingdom of Witinstyle, known for their wit and style -- Emperor Erick (Kyle Hanson, Little Falls) and Empress Ericka (Nichole Carey, Little Falls).

A princess who wishes she wasn't -- Princess Urecka (Erin Davis, Rochert).

The wise men of the court, who are not so wise -- The Royal Computer Wizard (Dan Goulson, Brainerd), the Minister of Finance (Caleb Brown, Aitkin) and the Duke of Corduroy (Seth Martinson, Staples).

Ladies in Waiting who have perhaps waited too long -- Lady Peachlips (Tiffany Morris, Pequot Lakes), Lady Picklesbreath (Fay Lytle, Brainerd) and Lady Pumpkinhips (Amanda Meyer, Aitkin).

The Royal Milkmaids of Fashion, who are right in style be they milking the cow or feeding the sow -- Merry Mary (Jessica Gazelcka, Brainerd), Mary Merry (Krista Waldvogel, Little Falls) and Mari Merry (Jill Erickson, Baxter).

Royal Dressmaker (Phyllis Sandoz, Backus).

Royal Gerald (Louis Roseman, Benton Harbor, Mich.).

Models and People of Witinstyle (Duffy Craft and Penny Wing, Brainerd; Meredith Henke, Baxter; and Megan Root, Onamia).
