Crosslake Garden Club to meet Wednesday
CROSSLAKE - The Crosslake Area Garden Club will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Crosslake Community Center.

The club will discuss tips on potting plants for its May plant sale. Yvonne Franseen and Burma Brekke will speak.

Jacks and Jills spring meeting

The BNSF Jacks and Jills spring meeting will be 7 p.m. Friday at the Eagles Club in Brainerd.

Three represent American Legion in Washington, D.C.

Jay Beebe and Larry Anderson, members of the Brainerd American Legion, and Kris Nelson, member of the Brainerd American Legion Auxiliary, were recently in Washington, D.C., lobbying for issues that affect American war veterans.

Beebe is a member of the National Security Committee for the Minnesota American Legion.

Anderson is the Employment Committee chairman for the Minnesota American Legion.

Nelson is a past state president of the Minnesota American Legion Auxiliary.

They were all part of a delegation of 35 Minnesotans in Washington, D.C.

BHS prom, grand march Saturday

Brainerd High School students will attend prom on Saturday.

Grand march will begin at 7 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Admission is $2 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Doors for seating will open at 6 p.m.

Prom will begin immediately following grand march and is open to juniors and seniors and their guests. The junior class cabinet planned the event. Junior class president is Becca Lange and vice president is Anna Tadych.

The theme is "Afterglow." The dance will end at midnight.

Advisers are Ginger Augustinack and Marg Tadych.

Nokasippi Watershed Group's quarterly meeting is Saturday

The Nokasippi Watershed Group, an organization of property owners in an area south and southeast of Brainerd, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Long Lake Township Hall on Highway 25 for its quarterly meeting.

Dennis Myers, administrator of the Crow Wing County Sanitary Management District, will discuss county sanitary management practices that will be used in the watershed area.

All area residents, farmers, lakeshore owners, township officials and any interested persons are encouraged to attend the meeting.
