Brainerd campus of CLC bestows honors
With less than one month before 2005 commencement ceremonies at Central Lakes College, the annual Awards Day for faculty, students and staff marks the home stretch of another academic year.
The Brainerd campus bestowed recognition in a short program April 14. The Staples campus does likewise Thursday. Graduation days are May 11 for Staples and May 12 for Brainerd.
The honors at Brainerd:
Outstanding Student -- Douglas "Buck" Ream, Westbank Journal editor the past two years and president of the CLC honor society, Phi Theta Kappa. He is a non-traditional age student who has been a fixture in student rights and communication issues.
Faculty of the Year -- As selected by the Student Senate, Jeff Wig of the accounting faculty was accorded the honor for involvement in college and community activities beyond the classroom that are always centered toward helping others meet their goals. Wig and his family are hosting Luisa Lucesoli, the CLC foreign exchange instructor from Argentina. He is a member of the Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union board of directors and works with entrepreneurs through the Business and Industry Center at CLC.
