At 10 a.m. Sunday at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby emergency personnel responded to a mock helicopter crash with multiple injuries and hazardous materials present as part of a large-scale public safety agency exercise, said John Bowen, Crow Wing County emergency management director.
Agencies that participated where Crosby Fire Department, Deerwood Fire Department, Ironton Fire Department, Cuyuna Fire Department, Crosby Police Department, Crosby EMS, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, Cuyuna Police Department, Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department and Crow Wing County Emergency Management.
The exercise was an opportunity for public safety agencies to enhance coordination, communication and collaboration in the event of a large scale incident or disaster, Bowen said in a news release. It also gave agencies an opportunity to use each others equipment, practice decontamination procedures and to work on incident command with multiple departments.
