Kevin Thesing receives Service to Mankind Award
Kevin Thesing thought he was asked to attend a meeting of the Sunrise Sertoma Club in order to give a presentation about the Education, Agriculture and Technology, or EAT, organization that supports the Brainerd Community Ag Center.
Instead, Thesing last month was awarded the Sunrise Sertoma Service To Mankind Award for his service to the community.
Thesing, who owns Lakes Printing in Brainerd, has volunteered in a variety of ways in the community. In addition to serving as EAT president and as an FFA alumni member, Thesing is a past president of Rotary, a past president of the Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce Board and president and past president of Sports Boosters.
Thesing was the 1999 Brainerd Citizen of the Year and has been involved for 15 years with the Brainerd Jaycees' annual ice fishing contest and was recognized in 1993 as one of Ten Outstanding Young Men while a Brainerd Jaycees member. He has served on the Brainerd High School Distinguished Achievement Hall of Fame Selection Committee, Confidence Learning Center Board and Lakes Area Senior Activity Center Board and has been active in the FASTCOPS program, Blandin Foundation Leadership Program and the Brainerd School District Foundation and is an organizer and sponsor of a memorial co-rec softball tournament. He also supports many nonprofits through his business.
