Psychology honor society inducts members at CLC
Four Central Lakes College students were inducted into Psi Beta, a national honor society for psychology in two-year colleges.
Inducted in ceremonies last Thursday were Amanda Arneman Bakken, Baxter; Ashley Hofius, Perham; Bonnie Jean Van Nest, Pequot Lakes; and Quincy Vincent, Brainerd. Presiding was instructor Martha Kuehn, adviser of the CLC Psychology Club.
CLC President Joe Birmingham offered remarks on the importance of membership in the society as well as the campus Psychology Club.
It was noted the group has been active in the community as well as on campus with participation in Earth Day, sponsoring Stress Management Day, preparing and serving a meal at the soup kitchen, volunteering for the women's shelter, helping with the Coats for Kids collection, and taking time to visit the Science Museum of Minnesota.
Club president is Jessica Spring of Brainerd. Vincent is vice president, Arneman Bakken is secretary and Hofius is treasurer. Courtney Clayton of Baxter is the club's student senate liaison.
This is the third annual induction. The college's chapter was established in 2002. For more information, go to the Web site at http://www.clcmn.edu/kuehn/psibeta.htm or the national Web site at http://www.psibeta.org.
