Aitkin students receive awards at annual BPA program
AITKIN -- The Business Professionals of America Awards Breakfast and Program was held earlier this month in the Aitkin High School Media Center.
BPA members, parents and other guests attended. President Justine Wagner welcomed guests.
Wagner; Brock Stoffel, vice president; Abbie Baker, secretary; Emily Holte, treasurer; Kari Paycer, historian and reporter; Levi Morris, parliamentarian; and Christopher Becker, Web master, received officer pins for their year of service.
Adviser Barb Matalamaki awarded the Outstanding Member of the Year to Wagner and the Outstanding New Member to Jordan Hattemer. All senior members were recognized. Members of the Aitkin Business Department presented the Business Pepsi Award to Wagner. All BPA contest team members received certificates of participation from region, state and national competition.
Emily Crain, Kaija Johnson and Hattemer showed a year in review slide show at the breakfast. Torch Awards for local, regional and state service were handed out to Hattemer, Holte and Johnson at the executive level; Wagner, Eric Heimark and Matt Baumgartner at the diplomat level; and Christopher Becker and Crain at the state level.
Letter award winners were Hattemer, Lilli Nygard, Johnson, Toni Turk, Travis Chaput, Victoria Helbling, Baker, Becker, Holte, Heimark, Crain, Wagner, Emily O'Neil, Alyssa Ritter, Levi Morris, Baumgartner and Leah Hoge. Nygard and Paycer gave out Hall of Fame Awards.
Officers for 2004-05 will be Hoge, president; Heimark, vice president; Holte, treasurer; Helbling, secretary; Morris, historian/reporter; Hattemer, parliamentarian; and Becker, Web master.
The three members advancing to national competition in Anaheim, Calif. -- Stoffel, Becker and Hattemer -- were congratulated.
