Graduation ceremonies scheduled for CLC
More than 770 Central Lakes College students are eligible to attend 2006 spring commencement ceremonies, according to the community and technical college.
The Staples campus will hold its graduation at 7 p.m. May 10 in the Staples-Motley High School gymnasium.
The Brainerd campus ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 11 in the Brainerd High School gymnasium.
Giving the commencement address at Staples will be Joe Opatz, CLC interim president and former legislator. He has agreed to remain for a time at the college overseeing academic affairs when new president Larry Lundblad starts at CLC July 1.
At Brainerd, the address will be presented by Garrison native Linda Eder, now a Broadway and recording artist. She is a former student. She will be the first recipient of an honorary Associate in Arts degree from the college.
Student welcomes will be given by senate presidents Sarah Sumner of Menahga at the Staples campus and Sarah Mulroy of Pillager in Brainerd.
Degrees include the AA, the Associate in Applied Science, and Associate in Science, as well as diplomas and certificates in career education programs.
Receptions will follow the ceremonies at each site.
