Brainerd finalist chosen as Willmar superintendent
WILLMAR - The Willmar School Board unanimously voted Friday to hire Waconia Superintendent Jerry Kjergaard as the district's next superintendent, according to a story that appeared in Friday's online edition of the West Central Tribune.
Kjergaard was one of two finalists for the Brainerd superintendent position, which was offered Thursday to Brainerd Assistant Superintendent Steve Razidlo.
Kjergaard was one of three finalists for the Willmar position. After Kjergaard's final interview with the school board Thursday, board members were informed that Mahnomen Superintendent Jon Kringen, another finalist, had accepted a contract that morning with the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle School District. That left Kjergaard and Mountain Lake Superintendent Bill Strom as the two remaining finalists, the newspaper reported.
