Powerball ticket purchased in Rice County nets biggest Minn. jackpot
ROSEVILLE, (AP) - The Minnesota State Lottery says that a winning Powerball ticket worth $180.1 million was sold in Rice County.
That's the largest Powerball jackpot ever won in the state of Minnesota.
The winning ticket holder has the option of annuity payments for the entire amount of the prize, or the cash option of $88 million - which would amount to $59.6 million after tax withholding.
The ticket holder has one year from the date of last night's drawing to claim the prize.
This is Minnesota's 20th Powerball jackpot winner since Powerball began in 1992, and first jackpot winner since November 2006.
The winning numbers were 2-28-36-42-46, and Powerball 40.
