Deadline to register for programs approaching
The deadline to register for the summer Fun 'N' Friends and Senior Leader, formerly Youth Trax, programs is May 13.
Registration forms may be picked up at the Community Education Office in the Washington Educational Services Building in Brainerd, Fun 'N' Friends after-school sites and Forestview Middle School in Baxter.
Summer site locations are the Washington Educational Services Building and Nisswa School. The program will operate June 2-Aug. 26.
Carnival set May 13 at Early Childhood Center
A spring carnival will be 4:30-7 p.m. May 13 at the Early Childhood Center, Brainerd School District Learning Center, to celebrate the 30th birthday of Early Childhood Family Education.
Tickets will be on sale for smoothies, hot dogs, pizza and raffle prizes. Games and prizes, crafts and face painting will be available along with a chance to tour a fire truck, police car, race car, Harley-Davidson motorcycle, school bus and a dump truck.
The event is a fund-raiser for the program to help maintain the scholarship fund. The Early Childhood Center is at 311 10th Ave. N.E., Brainerd. For more information call 829-0412.

An American Red Cross blood drive is planned noon-6 p.m. May 16-17 at Park United Methodist Church, 315 N. Sixth St., Brainerd.
Motorists urged to watch for MnDOT crews
BAXTER -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation reminds motorists to slow down and use caution when encountering maintenance crews on area highways now through late November.
MnDOT strives to make work zones safe for maintenance workers, as well as highway drivers, by providing advance traffic control and changeable message signs whenever possible.
