Hanowski, Kempenich Flyer athletes of year
Beau Hanowski and Melissa Kempenich were named male and female athletes of the year at the Little Falls Activities Banquet Monday.

JV softball wins

Brainerd beat Sauk Rapids 15-0 in junior varsity softball Monday.

Winning pitcher Chelsea Manton had five strikeouts. Della Gramer was 4-for-4 with a double, Zoe Houle was 2-3 with a triple, Jenni Smolke was 2-2 and Morgan Anderson was 2-4 as Brainerd improved to 7-0.

Freshman softball sweeps

The Brainerd freshmen softball team swept Sauk Rapids on Monday 8-0 and 19-9.

In the first game Nikki Anderson struck out nine and gave up two hits. Ashley Tibbetts had two hits and scored two runs.

In the second game Sam Holmes and Liz Burnard combined to strike out five and received defensive support from Shalene Cole, Alyssa Thoennes, Randi Georges and Allison Kunde. Trisha Kramer, Kate Fahlen, Thoennes and Cole all had two hits.

Track meet postponed

Inclement weather in Willmar on Tuesday postponed the Brainerd Warriors trip to the Section 8-3A True Team track and field meet until 2 p.m. Thursday.

JV tennis wins

The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity boys' tennis team defeated Sartell 9-1 Tuesday.

Winning for Brainerd in singles were Jordan Shiltz and Jordan Posch. Doubles winners were Andrew Goll-Kyle Smith, Scott Thelen-Caleb Johnson, Justin Sachs-Kush Patel, Corbin Campbell-David Hillstrom, Michael Montgomery-David Adamson and Caleb Hill-Chris Garin.
