20 years ago (1988)

Brainerd High School's proposed auditorium, if built, would be a showcase for community and school. Brainerd School District voters will decide the fate Tuesday of a $4.8 million bond issue to pay for the facility.

30 years ago (1978)

The third annual Ben Franklin Kite Flying Contest was held at Brainerd State Hospital Friday. The Ben Franklin traveling trophy, awarded to the highest flying kite, went to Deb Whitlock's classroom for the third year in a row.

40 years ago (1968)

An ace on hole 14 at the age of 11 - by Jim Toumi, son of Uno Toumi, Brainerd, scored at the Brainerd golf course Sunday, has gotten the 1968 links season off to a spectacular start locally.

60 years ago (1948)

Mr. Edward Tonish will be the new athletic coach in the college for the ensuing year. He will also assume the position of psychology, sociology and physical education teacher.

80 years ago (1928)

The blue and white track team of 1928 won third place again at the district track meet. Competition was very keen this year showing that there are a number of good track men in the district.

100 years ago (1908)

L. Hohman -manufacturer of ice cream - wholesale and retail trade. Get a quart for Sunday dinner, 25¢.
