Hasselberg 9th; Pequot Lakes 10th AREA GIRLS' GOLF
STAPLES - Class 2A's ninth-ranked Cydney Hasselberg finished ninth in Saturday's Staples-Motley Cardinals Invite at the Vintage.
Hasselberg shot an 80. Kelly Hagenson fired an 89, but the Card's first team wasn't playing with a full deck because of the S-M prom.
The Pequot Lakes Patriots, led by an 89 from Megan Lenz, placed 10th to lead all area teams.
Jamie Welle shot 100 for the 12th-place Crosby-Ironton Rangers.
S-M's second team placed 13th and was paced by Melissa Hoemberg's 101.
Tracy Gustafson shot 92 and Kayla Krause 96 to land the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines in 15th.
Class 2A's top-ranked Minnewaska won the tournament with a 304. Class 3A's fourth-ranked Irondale and top-ranked Alexandria were a very distant second and third with 341s.
Class 3A's 10th-ranked Katie Bolling of Irondale topped Moorhead's Ali Nelson, ranked fourth in 3A, and Minnewaska's Courtney Boe, ranked fourth in Class 2A, for the individual title. All three players shot 74, with Bolling distancing herself on the third extra hole.
