LOCAL BRIEFS C-I fundraiser planned Sunday for arts, athletics
CROSBY - "A Tribute to Our Community" is planned Sunday at Mayberry Auditorium at Crosby-Ironton High School.
The event will help raise funds to keep extracurricular music, art and sports programs in the schools.
Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the high school commons by "Ya Betcha" Bar and Grill and Noble's Place. A silent auction is planned from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
There are two variety shows Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The shows pay tribute to the many area businesses that have been supportive of C-I Schools through these difficult times. The two variety shows will be different, but both will feature skits, singing, dancing, gymnastics, cheerleading, the C-I band, chamber singers and elementary choirs. In addition, many of the more than 60 businesses that have supported C-I's extracurricular activities will take an active part in the performances. Masters of ceremonies are Carla Gutzman and Ron Wendorff. The event is hosted by Heartland Performing Arts Center and assisted by the C-I Music and Sports Boosters.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and is good for both shows. This is an opportunity to enjoy C-I student and community performers, while getting to know area business people and supporting the arts and athletics in the C-I School District.
