Eight teachers put on unrequested leave C-I SCHOOL BOARD Staff Writer The Crosby-Ironton School Board approved the final list of certified teachers placed on unrequested leave of absence in a special Friday morning board meeting.
The board Friday authorized placing eight certified teachers, or 6.1 full-time equivalent staff, on unrequested leaves of absence for the coming school year. On April 4 during the two-month-long C-I teachers' strike, the board voted to place 26 teachers on unrequested leave for the coming school year but amended that list Friday to reflect the district's stronger financial outlook following the strike's conclusion April 6. The contracts of four non-tenured teachers were not renewed in April.
Teachers placed on unrequested leave Friday include Karen Swanhorst, early childhood education teacher; Colleen Abear, Title I teacher; Jodi Stangel, STARS teacher; Debra Jensen, second-grade teacher; Andrea Gaffney, junior high and high school English teacher; Tom Gray, junior high school counselor; and Elizabeth Santi, high school family and consumer science teacher. Art teacher Jan Wilding was placed on unrequested leave for a portion of her contract.
